Unlocking the Secrets of Creating Comic Books - Production - Week Two

Image
Been a little busy and didn't get to spend a lot of time working on Unlocking the Secrets of Creating Comic Books this week. I did manage to build a general outline covering key topics and have been refining them with my experiences from my past workshops and talks I've held, as well as with material from my collection of books that have learned from. I intended to talk with some of my comic book creator colleagues about my workshop outline, but will be pushing that to next week. As a break I designed a logo that I think I may refine later on, though many have expressed positive responses so I may leave it as is. A fun surprise this week was being asked to be a judge for the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao's Create Your Canadian Superhero for Canada Day this year, along with  graphic novelist Renee Nault! You can find details about that here .

There is a lot of work ahead of me and new challenges due to COVID-19, but with the help of the York Region Arts Council's grant it's great to be able to move forward with this project.  I look forward to working with local professional and indie comic book creators, and businesses to make this project a success!  The goal is to inspire and expose young creative minds to th...

COVID-19 and Creating

I hope this finds you healthy and keeping safe at home. I know I have been pretty silent here for a while, but with the dynamic changes to everyone's lives with COVID-19 there have been many changes also to where I was going to be and what I was going to be doing. So, for the time being, I'll be at home and keeping busy working on things that I will get to announce later in the future, as well as putting together things that I have been putting into the back burner for a while now. It was not an easy thing for me to get back to though. It was a challenge to get back into a creative mode. I've been doing it with small steps, day-by-day. I am not as productive as I was before COVID-19. Like many, I was worrying and feeling the weight of the situation from reading all the news from around the world. Not to mention questioning what little importance my contribution to the world is--essentially, making stuff up. I've spoken to many fellow creators out there and we shar...
