COVID-19 and Creating

I hope this finds you healthy and keeping safe at home. I know I have been pretty silent here for a while, but with the dynamic changes to everyone's lives with COVID-19 there have been many changes also to where I was going to be and what I was going to be doing.

So, for the time being, I'll be at home and keeping busy working on things that I will get to announce later in the future, as well as putting together things that I have been putting into the back burner for a while now. It was not an easy thing for me to get back to though.

It was a challenge to get back into a creative mode. I've been doing it with small steps, day-by-day. I am not as productive as I was before COVID-19. Like many, I was worrying and feeling the weight of the situation from reading all the news from around the world. Not to mention questioning what little importance my contribution to the world is--essentially, making stuff up.

I've spoken to many fellow creators out there and we shared many of the same feelings and the lack of inspiration to write or create art. It was during one of those nights where I was watching reruns of a show we like and listening to music after to help fall asleep to, that it dawned on me.

"What would we be doing if none of the people involved came up with all of this?"

The feeling of not having music, books, comics, shows or movies was--I felt lost and empty. So I took a step and worked on writing a page, then two, and then a few more each day. Being able to sit down and come up with ideas and embellish others I had helped me feel--good. Just the act of creating made each day a better one.

For those who are still in a slump and not sure if they can get back to it, you will. It may take some time for you to get into the groove, but you will. The world needs stories, music and art. The world needs you to create it!
