Tilty Toy Workshop: A Crash Course in Character Development June 26th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Ever wondered how professionals create original characters for comics, video games, toys and animation? Join Howard Wong (Iron Man: Hong Kong Heroes), Mike Rooth (TMNT: The Last Ronin) and Shane Kirshenblatt (Mark Twain’s Niagara) for a 3-hour workshop where participants will get a firsthand look at how some of your favourite characters are created!

Workshop facilitators will demonstrate how one creates an original character from concept to sketch, and sketch to sculpting—LIVE! They will also share professional tips and tricks, as well as personal anecdotes from their own experiences creating and developing characters for Bandai, Bungie, Dark Horse, IDW, Image Comics, Valiant, Marvel Comics and others. Bring paper, pencils, erasers and anything you want to colour with, as well as Play-Doh to join in the fun and create your own original character!

This interactive online event is presented by the King Con Collective on Zoom. Registration will close on Friday, June 25 at 9:00 am, and registrants will be emailed the link before 5:00 pm that day. Creating, Pitching, and Publishing Comics - June 26th from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.


Ever wondered how to take an idea for a comic and turn it into a pitch to publishers? Join Howard Wong, co-creator and co-writer of the hit miniseries Damned, Cursed Children from Source Point Press. Howard will share his experiences and tips in this presentation on how he went from the idea for Damned, Cursed Children to published comic miniseries!

Howard Wong is an award-nominated writer and creative development specialist with over two decades in corporate and creative industries experiences. His passion for speculative fiction, narrative-driven intellectual property development, creative and cross-cultural media content has led him to work in animation, children's books, comic books, high-end collectible toys, intellectual property development, marketing and branding, videogames, mobile games, and new media story development. He has worked with Autodesk Sketchbook, Bandai Namco Asia Company Limited, Bungie Inc., Hong Kong Disneyland, Marvel Comics, 6Waves, Toni & Guy, Threezero (Hong Kong) Ltd., WowWee and others.
