Kids Creating Comic Books

Our goal is to teach you everything you need to know to turn your idea into your own comic book! You'll learn how to write a comic book script to comic lettering, how to do page layouts to cover design, and more as you make your own comic from comic book professionals who’ve worked for and published their comics with, Marvel Comics, Image Comics and others!

Ages: 10 to 16

Location: Richmond Hill Public Library - Richmond Green Branch, 1 William F. Bell Pkwy, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 2T9

Course Lessons: 3

Total Duration: 10 hours

Lesson Dates and Times:

  • Lesson One: In-person, February 17 (Saturday), 1 pm to 5 pm
  • Lesson Two: In-person, February 24 (Saturday), 1 pm to 5 pm
  • *Lesson Three: Virtual, February 25 (Sunday), 1 pm to 3 pm
  • *Meet-and-Greet:Return of participant's physical comics date and time TBA

Course Goals: Participants will make their own 5-paged comic story and cover that will be **scanned, digitally lettered (see example below) and put together into a digital comic book anthology!

*If participant cannot attend virtual lesson on the date specified, one alternative date will be provided.

**Participant's work will be collected at the end of lesson 2 for scanning and returned via a meet-and-greet at the Richmond Hill Public Library - Richmond Green Branch after digital lettering and digital comic anthology production is complete, date and time to be determined.


Join us at Richmond Hill Public Library - Richmond Green Branch for an exciting course where kids can unleash their creativity and bring their own comic book characters to life! This in-person course is perfect for young aspiring artists and storytellers. Our talented instructors will guide them through the process of crafting their very own comic book from start to finish.

Kids will learn the fundamentals of character design, plot development, to panel layouts by published comic book creators! Whether they're into superheroes, fantasy adventures, or hilarious comedies, this course is sure to ignite their imagination.

At the end of the course participants will have their very own completed comic story (min 5 pages and cover) which they take home and share with family and friends. They will also be scanned, digitally lettered and put together into a digital comic book anthology so you can share them with friends and family (see below for example)!
